Exercise and Stress Relief.
Stress is a condition that is characterized by emotional and mental strains that are always harmful. A stressed person is prone to psychological breakdown. Causes of stress are very numerous. Different people usually have different stress triggers. Where we can be a source of our stress. Causes of stress in the workplace include being unhappy with the job, working for long hours, working under dangerous conditions among other causes. The other category of stress is the life stress. Under life stress, there is the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job and getting married.
Sometimes however, stress can come from inside. One might stress themselves when they worry too much about certain things. The fear of certainty, attitude and perceptions, unrealistic expectations, and major life changes can make a person worry a lot hence resulting to stress. It is unhealthy to be stressful. People are advised to try as much as they can to relieve themselves from stress. There are proven negative health effects of stress. Irritability, a headache, fatigue, and difficulty in sleeping are the examples of the health implications of stress. The worst can happen with some of these health implications of stress. The good news is that there are ways to manage stress.
Some of these ways are as follows. It is important that a stressed person should avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Both nicotine and caffeine are stimulants. People mistake these substances for reducing the stress levels but in the real case they increase it. Despite alcohol being a depressant when consumed in large quantities, it is not an effective way of managing the stress. Another way of managing stress is getting enough sleep. This is so, since lack of enough sleep is capable of causing stress. There are certain relaxation techniques that can assist someone to reduce stress. Majority of these relaxation techniques have been tried and tested.
Physical exercise is another method of managing stress. Stress is accompanied by the increase in the levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. The levels of these hormones can be increased further by doing exercise. Iit is not, however, necessary that the exercise be vigorous. Brisk walking in fresh air can be very helpful. Working out on a daily basis is even a much better remedy.
There are certain ways on how exercise help in stress management. Exercise has the effect of pumping endorphins into the body. These are brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters. Exercises help a person to forget about someone’s day irritations. The mood of a person can be improved following an exercise session. The symptoms of depression and increasing the confidence of a person are the ways that exercise assist in improving the mood of a person.
